Well this is the first blog on for me on the new site and I feel like I need to write something extremely profound. However, profound wisdom for the masses is something that I am not very good at. I did have an experience last week that some of you may appreciate While at the RideBMX NORA Cup Awards in Las Vegas I came face to face with honestly the person that made me want to ride a little bike. Bill Allen the actor that played Cru Jones in the movie RAD was one of the presenters at NORA Cup. I was able to meet him briefly and it was a strange encounter. Here was this guy that played a BMX rider in a movie that changed my life, but he really had no idea what BMX is really like. He had never experienced it himself he just portrayed a charecter in a movie. It is crazy to think about the impact this guy has had on so many lives and ultimately on BMX without actually being part of the industry. It made me realize how important it is for each of us to be aware of the power we each have to change lives and how we need to be genuine in what we do and say. I would say that RAD and Cru Jones had a positive impact on my life and I will say that Bill Allen seemed like a nice guy. But what if the opposite where true what if a nice guy portrayed an evil person and influenced someone to a life of crime? Actually as a teenager I think I was guilty of that to some extent. I tried to fit into a stereotype of the "rebel" when deep down I wasn't and now I look back and realize that I may have in some ways led my friends down some wrong roads. Be careful how you use the influence you have over others. Be real. Be hungry for truth.
